Literary Essay

Literary Responses are based on their independent reading. They can use either fiction or nonfiction and are expected to produce a literary essay of no less than, but not limited to 5 paragraphs. This includes and introduction (thesis and reasons), body of the essay (where the reasons are supported with evidence and ideas) and a conclusion.

Paragraph 1: Brief description of the book, the title and author, your thesis or big idea about the book and the three reasons.

Paragraph 2: Reason 1, examples from the book that prove the reason, connections you may have, questions or ideas.

Paragraph 3: Reason 2, examples from the book that prove the reason, connections you may have, questions or ideas.

Paragraph 4: Reason 3, examples from the book that prove the reason, connections you may have, questions or ideas.

Paragraph 5: restate your thesis, evaluate the book, include authors message, what you have learned, and should people read it.
